About The Release Program
At The Inmate Connection, we believe every inmate deserves a strong start upon release. Our personalized release packages provide essential items—including an interview-ready outfit and a few extra necessities—to help each recipient step into their new chapter with confidence. We cover all costs, from the contents to the postage, so they can focus on rebuilding their life.
What is Included in the Release Package?
Once an inmate is sponsored or randomly selected, we will be in touch with him/her regarding sizes, style preferences and best delivery options.
A new or refurbished unactivated smart phone (iPhone or Android, varies upon inventory)
A $100 Visa gift card
A pair of new shoes
A minimum of two outfits: Includes (2) pants, joggers, jeans, or shorts, (2) shirts, (2) socks, (2) undergarments, (2) undershirts & (1) accessory
Outfit types will vary upon inmate preferences, location, and time of year.
The extra accessory will be determined based on the inmates’ personal preferences and needs upon release
Extra socks and undergarments
A hygiene kit, including: shampoo/conditioner, a nail care set, deodorant, q-tips, cotton balls, face wash, soap, powder, a roll of toilet paper, shaving cream and razors.
What to Expect After Nominating an Inmate
Inmates are picked by a random lottery. The number of inmates selected varies each selection, depending on donations, inventory, and item availability. We try to make this process as simple as possible. The Inmate Connection will notify you if the inmate you nominated has won the random lottery to receive our release package. We will reach out to our lottery winners via the address you provided on the inquiry form to coordinate and personalize their release package. We will do our best to accommodate your loved one’s style preference, and will coordinate delivery of the package to take place as soon as possible upon their release. The Inmate Connection will cover all postage costs. Some inmates ask for release packages to be mailed to their loved one prior to their release, to enable their loved one to have their phone ready and activated for them on their release day. We will work with your inmate to figure out what is most convenient for him/her. We kindly request you only apply once per inmate. Multiple entries for the same inmate or will NOT help their chances of being selected. We request nominating an inmate when they have one year or less remaining on their sentence. We are here for you and want to be apart of your success story. Our goal is always to assist as many inmates as possible!
The Inmate Connection donates an additional package for each release package that is donated. Donate a release package and you can help TWO inmates transition from prison to parole. We are always looking for donations to enable us to assist as many parolees’ as possible.
